Ireland has a very broad and exciting range of horse racing festivals spread throughout the year. Generally flat racing takes place from March to October/November with jumping (national hunt) season taking place over the winter months. The exception to this is Kilbeggan Racecourse in Co. Westmeath which is purely national hunt and does not have winter fixtures. Festivals have great followings with many people availing of a holiday break at their favourite location.
The summer festivals have a mixture of flat and national hunt - the exception being The Curragh, which is flat only. These festivals have wonderful appeal for regular racegoers and visitors alike. The big five festivals are Fairyhouse at Easter, Punchestown in April, The Curragh in June, Galway in July/August, and Leopardstown at Christmas. These vary in duration from three to seven days.
Accommodation in nearby hotels for these festivals tends to book up very quickly and it is always advisable to book as early as possible. At Corporate Hotels.ie we provide you with the ability to book direct with the hotels of your choice, just click the title of your chosen racing festival and we will put you in direct contact with the reservation system of the hotels we recommend in the area.
